Miss Stephanie Leichtnam-O'Connor

Stephanie began teaching at the Basically Ballet School in New Jersey, where she trained under Eileen Juric. She received her Bachelors of Fine Arts in Dance from SUNY Purchase College. While studying at SUNY, she taught Purchase Youth Ballet. Upon graduation, she danced professionally in NYC for several ballet and modern companies including Lydia Johnson Dance, Michael Mao Dance and Company Elke Rindfleich.
After years of performing professionally, she began teaching full time. She has taught ballet, modern and lyrical in various schools in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
In ballet class, Stephanie incorporates lessons from Vaganova and Cecchetti syllabi, as well as her own more neoclassical background. Her modern class is based on Graham, Cunningham and Limon techniques. Knowledge of anatomy and injury prevention is emphasized in all her classes.
